Ms. Dana is IACW’s amazing owner, and head director! She has worked with since September of 2018! Her favorite color is purple and her favorite animal is a penguin. She wanted to say her favorite food was shrimp tacos, but really loves anything on the grill… makes you think of summer doesn’t it? Ms. Dana’s favorite thing about working with the kids is watching them play and make discoveries or act out in play from something we read, she loves seeing them make those connections! When she is not working on things for the center, her two boys keep her pretty busy! She loves hanging out with them, and how much they make her laugh, as well as hanging out with her friends, and going on walks on the bike trail! Ms. Dana’s favorite memory so far from working at IACW is, “Sliding into kindergarten” every year. She loves all the events but this one just happens to be her favorite, along with her love for the field trips. It was so great having her two boys attend IACW and being able to be a part of those events and field trips brings her many memories, and let’s her enjoy them even more seeing the smile on not only their faces but all the children’s! In high school she was in choir and had the chance to take a trip to New York where she made so many good friends and created a lot of good memories.Going forward, Ms. Dana has so many exciting things for the center, as well as she is currently working on her National Director’s credential! Ms. Dana has brought so many good things to IACW and can’t wait to continue this journey!
Ms. Colleen has been working with IACW for 23 and a half years! No wonder she is quick with the answers and such a great director! Ms. Colleen loves cheese and ranch dressing, and the color gray! She also loves her cat Lyle, which also happens to be her favorite animal. When she is not caring for her cat, working at the center, or seeing her grandchildren, her favorite hobby is to crochet. Before Ms. Colleen was a director, she was a preschool teacher, and one of her favorite things about working with the children is listening to their stories and hearing all the funny things the children say! After working at IACW for this long, her favorite memory so far is when she had the 2’s, she had her first parent thank her for everything she was doing for their child, and how much they appreciate her, and that made her cry knowing the difference she was making. As she continues to be a part of IACW she is hoping to work towards her Bachelor's Degree, but hoping there is not too much math, and I am sure many of us can relate to that!
Ms. Alicia started IACW working part time in 2019, and then started working full time in June of 2020! Many of you have seen her as the school age director, but now she is a director with Colleen, and she is also amazing at answering any questions you may have. Ms Alicia’s favorite color is yellow, and loves Mexican food, especially the queso (cheese dip), yum! Her favorite animal is a cow and when she is not working at the center, or working on things for the center, she is either painting, reading, or hanging out with her little brother. Ms. Alicia also loves to hear the stories the children tell her and all the fun things they do outside of IACW, along with seeing how creative they are! Her favorite memory so far is when the school agers had an amazing race day during spring break last year, and the kids were split into teams, and moved around St. Johns doing different tasks to complete the race. All the kids were so determined when doing the tasks, making sure they were able to solve the clues, making such a fun day! Ms. Alicia was involved in theater in highschool, but did not do much on stage, as she did a lot behind the scenes. She also was a part of a service youth group that required her to make many speeches, which is probably why we choose her a lot to do the introduction at many of our family events, because she is great with talking to all of you! Going forward she is currently taking classes to earn her director’s credential, which will then give her credits towards her Masters Degree!
If you have a billing question, need translation, just need a question answered, or anything else really, Ms. Alma is your gal! Ms. Alma has been working with IACW for 3 years. Her favorite color is black and white, and her favorite food is tacos and pizza…double yum! To go along with her favorite color, her favorite animal is a panda, and when she is not working at the center, she is either taking care of her family, which includes her dog, or drawing, as she did in highschool when participating in arts. Ms. Alma’s favorite memories so far are the parent nights, and loves to see the difference she is making with the children! Going forward Alma is working on her CDA and will be done in February!
Ms. Dainielle is the face of our school age program, as she is the school age director! She has been working for IACW for 5 months now and has already made some great things happen for the program, along with many fun, exciting things she has planned for the future! Her favorite color is green, and her favorite food is a tie between pizza and sushi… what an interesting mix! To go along with her favorite animal being cats, she has two of them, and two dogs, and two rabbits, wow! Her favorite memory from working at IACW so far is her very first day, because the kids were so welcoming and sweet that it warmed her heart! Ms. Danielle’s favorite thing about working with the kids is how creative, funny and fun they all are. She says they are the best, and I would say all of the teachers would agree! When she is not at the center, you can find her cooking and taking care of her sweet baby boy. She was a cheerleader in both college and highschool, and a javelin thrower also in college, played basketball in middle school and highschool, and was in choir from 4th grade to senior year in highschool, and participated in state singing competitions. Going forward Ms. Danielle will be starting her master’s for early childhood education in spring or fall!
Ms. Coni makes our delicious meals every day! She has worked at IACW for 8 months, and her favorite food is mexican. Ms. Coni’s favorite color is teal, and couldn’t pick a favorite animal because she just loves them all! She has two kitties named Roy and Minny and participated in track in school. When she is not working at the center she loves to nap! So far from working at IACW her favorite memory is the Apple Fest, and her favorite thing about working with the kids is all their different personalities and the cute things they say and do! Coni makes so many fun meals that the kids love!
Ms. Taylor has been working with IACW for 8 months, and loves to get messy, which is perfect for the 2’s! Her favorite color is blue and her favorite food is Subway, quick and delicious! Ms. Taylor’s favorite animal is dogs, and has three of them! In highschool she participated in softball, and played for 16 years of her life! Her favorite memory so far from IACW is water day, which just happens to be a crowd favorite in the summers! When she is not working at the center she loves to scrapbook, which gives IACW our perfect picture girl, as you may have seen many of the pictures she takes throughout the day of your child(ren) creating memories! Going forward, Ms. Taylor is currently going for her Bachelor's Degree at Grand Canyon University in Arizona, and plans on student teaching next January to then in the future become a first or second grade teacher in the fall of 2023! Congratulations are also in order, as Ms. Taylor will also be welcoming a baby boy in April!
Ms. Emily has been working for IACW for 8 months, and her favorite food is tacos! Her favorite color is pink, and her favorite animal is a panther or white tiger. Ms. Emily’s favorite thing about working with the children is being able to teach them something new every day! Her favorite memory from working at IACW so far is the 4th of July celebration, because she loved to see all the cool decorations each class made and the smiles on their faces as they marched in the parade. When she is not working at the center she loves to hang out with her family and friends, and her maltipoo named Ollie. In school she participated in basketball from kindergarten to sophomore year, and played volleyball for 5 years. The 2’s and all the other preschool friends love having Ms. Emily, as they do all our amazing teachers!
Ms. Cheri is the face of the headstart room! She is one many parents used to have as their teacher, and many comment on our facebook page that they remember her and some of the activities she did with them! She is the longest working teacher at IACW! Can you guess how many years she’s been teaching for us? 30 years!! Her favorite color is purple and her favorite food is chicken wings… always a great choice. Her favorite animal is a dog, and her favorite thing about working with the children is that they keep her young! Ms. Cheri’s favorite memory so far from working at IACW is the fake wedding’s we used to hold with the kids. In school she participated in choir, which just happens to lead us into one of her hobbies of singing, along with her joy of reading and playing games when she is not at the center. We are glad these kiddos are keeping her young because we want many more years with her as a part of the team!
Ms. Danyell has been working with IACW for 8 months, and her favorite tacos! Ms. Danyell’s favorite color is pink and favorite animal is puppies. In highschool she took chorus and when not working at the center likes to watch netflix, read or color, as the children love to ask her to read them a story or color with them! Ms. Danyell loves to watch the children grow and get to know them, and her favorite memory so far is the noon year’s eve party IACW puts on for the kids to do activities with them throughout the morning and a balloon drop at noon! Going forward Ms. Danyell is also taking CDA classes and planning on becoming a lead teacher!
Ms. Alecia has been working for IACW for about a month now! The kids have already started a bond with her and love her! She is working currently as a float, between Lakeshore Explorers, Reptile Rangers, and School age. Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite food is chicken fried rice, YUMMY! Ms. Alecia’s favorite animal is a sloth, and when she is not working at the center she likes to hang out with her family. Her favorite memory from working at IACW so far is circle time, because that ties into her favorite part of working with the kids which is to watch them learn and grow to be independent. She also has a pet cat named Jinx and a dog named Chevy! Going forward Ms. Alecia is currently working on her Associates in Arts to then transfer to Western for her Early Childhood Education Degree!
Ms. Rebecca is the face of the ROE program, as she is our main ROE teacher! She has worked for IACW for 8 years in June, and has worked for 2 summers, as ROE is only for the school year! Her favorite color is periwinkle, and her favorite food is steak, which just happens to be the main course at her favorite restaurant, Prime Steakhouse. Ms. Rebecca’s favorite animal is a Giraffe, and when she is not working at the center she enjoys dancing, sewing, and fishing. Her favorite memory so far from working at IACW is tricking Ms. Alma and Ms. Alicia really thought there was something wrong with the sinks, until she started to laugh! She says it was just really dry ice she was trying to melt, and they both thought something was really wrong, and just by that story I am sure you can tell just how funny she is every day! Ms. Rebecca’s favorite thing about working with the children is, how every day is different and you never know what will come out of their mouths. She has been dancing since she was in 1st grade, and was in choir, band, and played the flute in Junior Highschool, and also was a member of flag corp and the gymnastics team in highschool. Going forward, Ms. Rebecca will be taking two classes to complete her endorsement for Early Childhood!
Mr. Malachai has been working with IACW for 8 months, and his favorite food is also mexican! His favorite animal is a pit bull dog, and his favorite color is blue. In highschool he participated in theater as well as a year also in college. He loves the kids' energy, which he is amazing at keeping up with, especially with the school agers! His favorite memory so far from working at IACW is all the field trips that bring such great memories! When he is not working at the center he is playing basketball, reading, or listening to music. Mr. Malachai is great with our Lakeshore explorers, and our school age friends, and the kids love having him be their teacher!
Mr. James, or as the school agers and some of our preschool friends like to call him, “Professor James”, has been working with IACW for 6 months! You may recognize him through soccer shots, as that was a great way for him to meet so many of the kiddos, and for us to love him already, so when he reached out to IACW that he wanted to continue his education with children, and be apart of our team, of course the answer was yes! His favorite color is green, and his favorite food is chicken croissants with cheese…a must try! His favorite animal is a good one which just happens to be his pet which her name is Precious and he tells us she sure lives up to her name! Mr. James’s favorite thing about working with the kids is having the opportunity to teach children new things, and also just being able to observe them learn and grow everyday! His favorite memory so far from working at IACW is Apple Fest because of how fun it was to watch all the kids have so much fun, especially riding the roller coaster down the hill outside. When he is not working at the center he is coaching soccer, fishing, or playing ping pong. To go along with his love for soccer, since he was 5 years old competitively all through highschool, and still puts on his boots to play for fun. Going forward, “Professor James is planning on going back to school for his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education!
Ms. Alecia has been working with IACW for 2 months! Her favorite color is purple and pink, and her favorite food is pizza. Ms. Alecia’s favorite animal is also a panda and has a dog, and helped coach her sisters volleyball team. Even though she has not worked with IACW for too long, the Lakeshore explorers and school agers already adore her! Her favorite memory so far from working at IACW is going to Circa 21 with the kiddos and seeing Seussical, along with seeing their imaginations flow! When she is not working at the center she loves to watch movies, hangout with friends, or go on walks. Going forward, Ms. Alecia plans on going into the nursing program!
Ms. Carina has been working for IACW for 8 months and her favorite food is tacos! Ms. Carina’s favorite animal is a black panther which just happens to go along with her favorite color being black. She also has a dog, and enjoys drawing in her free time. Her favorite thing about working with the kiddos is to engage with them and her favorite memory so far is the summer field trips! Going forward Ms. Carina is currently going to school to get her general classes done!
Ms. Chiquita has been a seasonal worker for IACW since 2019! She is mainly with the school agers, especially on school breaks, but is now a float for the preschoolers! Her favorite color is red, and her favorite food is alfredo pasta. Her favorite animal is a lioness, the female lion! When she is not working at the center, she likes to read, travel, and dining out before covid times. Her favorite memory so far from working at IACW is going to elevate last summer with the school agers, and her favorite thing about working with the kiddos is being able to see them flourish into their identities, and being able to know that she has helped in some way be apart of that is a very heat warming and satisfying thing to experience. Ms. Chiquita has a cat, and in school ran track, cross country, and recreational volleyball. Going forward, Ms. Chiquita is currently enrolled in Western Illinois University and working towards her Psychology with an unclear minor, to work with individuals in regards to their mental health, counseling and life coaching needs!
Ms. Shelby has been working for IACW for 2 and a half years! She started as a school age teacher, then to a head start preschool teacher, and now is IACW Family Advocate! Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite animal is a dolphin. Like many of IACW’s teachers, her favorite food is tacos! When not working at the center, she loves to go out on the boat, go ride quads, watch the show Friends, go workout, or hang out with her friends. When she was in highschool she participated in ASA softball and highschool softball, and played volleyball. Ms. Shelby has two dogs, and a bunny, and her favorite thing about working with the kids is to see their creativity, and seeing their progress and growth as they get older, and the seasons change. Her favorite memory so far is when the school agers were on summer break and they went to the trampoline park. It was a lot of fun watching them get to try new tricks and get to roam the park being themselves and having a lot of fun, along with smiling and laughing throughout the day. Going forward Ms. Shelby is working towards her Bachelor's Degree in social work, in hopes to one day become a social worker!
